Summer's magic has the farm firmly in its grip. Guests are excitedly heading out to the gardens, curious about what flora they might see and smell. At the same time, the bees buzz about eagerly, collecting the sweet nectar awaiting within the thousands upon thousands of colourful blossoms. It's a good time to be outside in nature.
Here are some estimated dates of blooming for some of our most prized plants:
Poppies: late November - late December
Roses: early December - mid February
Lavender: mid December - mid March
Cone flowers: mid December - early March
Hydrangeas: late December - late March
Lilies: early January - late March
Dahlias: early January - mid April
Sunflowers: early February - mid March
Please keep in mind that this summer flowering timeline is our best guess for the peak season (using last year as a guide). Of course there are many other species of flora growing at Wānaka Lavender Farm that aren't mentioned here. These are just a handful of our most popular ones!

With lavender, we have a range of varieties that show off at different times all through summertime. From Stoechas who like being the first out, to "true lavender" Lavanadula Angustifolia that are currently bloming, and Lavandula x Intermedia that take a little longer to bloom.
If you are interested in coming to see a certain flower, feel free to give us a call that day/week to enquire if it's out or if it's worth waiting a little. Sometimes the difference between being too early/just the right time/too late is a matter of a couple of days - we'd hate for you to miss out!
