Spring Flowering Timeline

Have you been patiently waiting for the springtime flowers to start unfurling? Because we certainly have. And now that we can see some bright, happy colours re-emerging, we are finally counting down the days to feasting our eyes on all of our favourite florals.
Here are some estimated dates of blooming for some of our most dashing plants:
Hellebores (also known as Winter Roses): mid July - late November
Snowdrops: early August - early October
Daffodils: mid September - mid October
Cherry Blossom Trees: late September - late October
Bluebells: mid October - mid November
Wisterias: mid October - early November
Tulips: early October - mid November
Lavender (Stoechas): late November - early January
Please note that the above schedule is our best guess (going off last year's season) and there is one huge factor that could mess with the timeline: Mother Nature! Some flora are extremely sensitive to the weather and will decide not to come out if they're not happy about the conditions (and who can blame them?).
Take our whimsical wisterias as an example... one year, they were a complete no-show because it was too cold. Another year, they did deign to grace us with their beauty but left it until summertime before making an appearance. Please bare this in mind. Frost and spring snow days can wreak havoc on the plants' cycles.
Of course we have plenty of other flowers starting up in the main garden in late spring, peonies being one of them (mid November - mid December). The list here is not extensive of what we have growing at Wānaka Lavender Farm.
If you are interested in coming to see a certain flower, feel free to give us a call that day/week to enquire if it's out or if it's worth waiting a little. Sometimes the difference between being too early/just the right time/too late is a matter of a couple of days - we'd hate for you to miss out!
