Farm Experiences: What's on Offer?

Planning a trip to Wānaka and want to incorporate Wānaka Lavender Farm in your plans? Read about the experiences that are available and what you'll need to book or just show up for:

Farm Experience

Our most popular type of experience and the ticket that lets you explore our 20+ acres of farm fun. Find joy in the scenery on your own terms; meander through gardens filled with various flowers, smell rows and rows of lavender, play giant games dotted around, and don't forget to say hi to our resident animals. Alpacas, highland cows, kune kune pigs, donkeys, and more are here to greet you.

As you wander around the farm, take note of the wildlife you come across! From buzzing bees and beautiful butterflies to native birds and waddling ducklings.

After your stroll, sample our aromatic lavender products in the farm shop, taste our unique honeys in the tearoom, and order a tea and treat to sit with in the garden. Grab an ice cream for the road and contemplate the loveliness of spending time in nature.

There is no need to pre-book a Farm Experience ticket, simply show up on the day.

Picnic Experience

An experience curated with care to celebrate the spring/summer season. This unforgettable treat for two offers a blend of relaxation and gourmet grazing. The best part? After the hamper is lovingly put together for you, you may take it anywhere you want within Wānaka Lavender Farm to tuck into. Find peace by the pond, next to the lavender, or in a shady spot under the trees.

A Picnic Experience includes 2 x Farm Experience tickets. Take it easy and relish in some time out from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

It's best to pre-book this experience so that our team can be ready to prepare your hamper for your arrival.

Lavender Scavenger

For the young ones... or the young at heart! Upon arriving at the farm, you may want to purchase a Lavender Scavenger experience to add to your Farm Experience.

A Lavender Scavenger is a light-hearted hunt that helps guide you to all parts of the farm. Head on an adventure trying to find each item on the scavenger map and claim your prize when you return to the farm shop.

Group Experience

This one is for those visiting as a large group. Families and smaller groups are fine to arrive as normal, however, tourist groups, educational outings, or any other type of event should be booked.

The Group Experience offers the same activities as the Farm Experience.

Photoshoot Permit

Recently gotten married? Wanting to celebrate your love surrounded by nature in a stunning landscape? Or are you just looking to capture the magic of your family, friendship group, or someone special in style?

Booking the Photoshoot Permit in advance is perfect for those wanting to visit the farm and bring along a photographer.

Please note that the farm does not organise the photographer, that is up to you. We are happy to provide a backdrop for the moment.

Those are our current farm experiences on offer! At Wānaka Lavender Farm, whether you're heading into the fields and the gardens or not, we are honoured to have you pop in. You can still browse our shop, hang out in the tearoom and taste some sweet honey without an entrance ticket. A warm welcome awaits all.

Please read our Plan Your Visit page for more info and links to bookings*. Always note the season you're coming in to avoid disappointment (lavender is not in bloom all year round!).

*As mentioned, booking tickets beforehand is not necessary for individuals or families who simply want admission into the farm. Any other major experience such as Group Experience, Picnic Experience or Photoshoot Permit will need to be booked through our website for availability and organisation reasons.
